The second annual Sherman Triathlon, located in Sherman, CT is just 75 miles from NYC. Known for its rolling hills and beautiful countryside, the race will challenge both newcomers and seasoned veterans on its sprint race course. This will be one of the "classic" races for many years to come. The course has that country feeling, so that all the athletes feel challenged, but also safe while they are racing through Connecticut.
WHEN: July 28, 2012 | 7:00 am
SWIM: .5 mile clockwise swim in clean, beautiful Candlewood Lake. Swim cutoff: 30 minutes from wave start. We will have more than 5 lifeguards and CLA Authority in the water and on land. If you have any trouble during the swim, take off your swim cap and wave it in the air. The first wave will go off at 7:30am and every 4 minutes after the first wave.
BIKE: 12.5 mile bike takes you out of Sherman Town Beach, exiting right through Sherman Town Center and then a quick left up a hilly and rolling 39 North. Make a right on Route 55 towards Gaylordsville you will be going downhill until you hit the Sherman Golf Club, making a left onto Evans Road which will climb up and over until it finally levels off going back down onto RT 55 where you will make a left completing a small loop which will bring you right back to Route 39 South. The last 6 miles of the bike course are rolling hills with one nice challenging hill 4 miles from the bike finish, then back to the Sherman Town Beach.
RUN: 4 mile run takes you from Sherman Town Beach, out through Sherman Town Center and straight on Route 37 to a right on Holiday Point Road. This is a rolling hilly run that is an out and back, allowing athletes to see their competition. The final 1/3 of a mile is an oval finish in Veterans Park which will provide a great spectators finish view and athletes one final chance to get a look at their competition finishing.
